In a whirlwind of uncertainty and last-minute cancellations due to Covid, I found myself coordinating an ambitious project: the Unofficial MWC Conference. With just 10 days to pivot and amidst the looming threat of a state of emergency, the challenge was not just about organising an event but doing so in a way that ensured safety, engagement, and value for all participants.
Here's how we turned a potential crisis into a celebrated success:
Quick Planning: I rapidly developed the event's concept and agenda, tailoring it to fit the incredibly tight timeline without compromising on quality or substance.
Venue Arrangements: I secured a prestigious hotel in Barcelona, ensuring it met all our needs for a MICE event, accommodating 300 attendees with agreed-upon catering options that suited everyone's needs.
Venue Coordination: On the day, I made sure everything at the venue ran smoothly, from the setup to the execution, ensuring every participant's experience was seamless.
Crisis Response: Facing Covid-related challenges head-on, I implemented measures to address concerns promptly, ensuring the safety and comfort of all attendees.
The outcome? The conference was a triumph, drawing in 300 participants and earning accolades from attendees, as well as press coverage from notable outlets like La Vanguardia and Euro News. It was a testament to the team's adaptability, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence under pressure.
